Hospital will appeal to correct flawed decision

Trinitas Regional Medical Center is deeply disappointed by the Department of Health’s reversal of the unanimous decision of the State Health Planning Board, which rejected the Department of Health's initial recommendation to deny Trinitas' request for Level II Trauma Designation.

Mr. Horan believes that the Department of Health placed disproportionate emphasis upon unsubstantiated economic considerations, as opposed to the human need for care that exists in the community.

Trinitas provided a detailed and comprehensive analysis of the regional trauma need that negates any claim of material economic factors. Further, the Department of Health leaves an impression of unsupported economic impact given priority over patient care and public safety.

In the interest of the patients it serves, Trinitas will vigorously pursue all available means to appeal and correct this flawed decision.
