Jun 19, 2019 Savatta Named Interim Chair of Behavioral Health & Psychiatry

Trinitas Regional Medical Center has announced the promotion of Dr. Salvatore G. Savatta from Deputy Chairman to Interim Chair of Behavioral Health & Psychiatry effective May 1, 2019.

Before arriving at Trinitas in January of 2016, Dr. Savatta was Director of Inpatient Psychiatry at New York Methodist Hospital.

"I have been truly impressed by the dedication, commitment, and cooperation, of all the Trinitas staff," says Dr. Savatta, who received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics from New York University and his M.D. from NYU School of Medicine, as well as a Master's of Science degree in Biostatistics Clinical Research Methods from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health.

He adds, "I am extremely excited to have the opportunity as the newly appointed Chairman of Psychiatry, not only to support this exceptional group of teammates in their current roles, but to help guide them in expanding their activities to include additional modalities for the treatment of mental illness and to make these services available to an even greater number of people."

Prior to finishing his Psychiatry Residency at St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center, Dr. Savatta served three years as a surgical resident, and completed a Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. Dr. Savatta is Board certified in Adult Psychiatry.

Trinitas offers the full continuum of care with specialized services available for adults, children, adolescents, and families alike. In addition to a 98-bed inpatient facility, Trinitas has a one-of-a-kind unit for mentally ill/developmentally disabled individuals. Overall, Trinitas provides more than 200,000 behavioral health outpatient visits per year.
