West Orange, NJ – July 23, 2019 – RWJBarnabas Health today appointed Dr. Robert T. Adamson, PharmD, FASHP to Senior Vice President and Operational Project Director, EPIC Implementation, effective immediately. In this new role, Dr. Adamson will lead the strategic direction and overall operational and financial aspects of the EPIC implementation. He will oversee the successful rollout of this program to ensure there are no interruptions for patients, physicians, stakeholders or cash flow, working collaboratively with Information Technology and operational leadership.
Dr. Adamson’s previous position of Chief Pharmacy Officer has been assumed by Indu Lew, PharmD, recently Corporate Vice President of Clinical Pharmacy Services at RWJBarnabas Health.

Since beginning his career at RWJBarnabas Health in 2001 as a critical care pharmacist at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Dr. Adamson moved into a variety of positions at the corporate level. He held the role of Corporate Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services in 2003 and Vice President of Clinical Pharmacy Services, from 2008 to 2015. He also served as Vice President of IDEAS, a Barnabas Health Medical Communications Company, from 2004 to 2013. His most recent role, since 2015, was Senior Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer, providing strategic direction for the 23 divisions within the Pharmacy Enterprise.
In addition, Dr. Adamson has conducted multiple disease research studies in the areas of infectious disease, oncology, oncology supportive care, and various internal medicine subjects. He is a recipient of the Greg Santora New Jersey Pharmacist of the Year Award and was bestowed fellowship designation in 2014 by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, among a wealth of professional awards and honors. He has published widely in prestigious medical journals, serves on the editorial board of major periodicals in his field and has presented at more than 500 medical conferences nationally and internationally.

Prior to joining RWJBarnabas Health, Dr. Adamson held clinical and consultant roles in leading organizations across New York and New Jersey. Dr. Adamson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from St. John's College of Pharmacy, and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Rutgers University College of Pharmacy, where he is currently an adjunct instructor.
Dr. Adamson serves on various committees at RWJBarnabas Health including the Quality Cabinet, the Analytics Steering Committee, the Population Health Council and the Tackling Addition Task Force and is co-chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee. In addition, Dr. Adamson is a Bestowed Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He is a resident of Monroe, NJ.
