Feb 15, 2019 Brother Bonaventure Named A "High-Performing" Facility

US News & World Report recognizes Trinitas-affiliated skilled nursing center

Brother Bonaventure Extended Care & Rehabilitation Center, a not-for-profit skilled nursing center affiliated with Trinitas Regional Medical Center, has been rated one of the Best Nursing Home/Short-Stay Rehabilitation Centers by U.S. News & World Report based on the quality of care for patients recovering from a hospital stay, such as after joint replacement surgery, accidental injury, stroke or heart attack. The 124-bed skilled and nursing facility, located in Elizabeth, is designed to provide 24-hour licensed nursing care and support for individuals who require long-term care or sub-acute care before returning home.

“Our rehab staff is committed to providing the best care to our patients to help them return home,” says Violet Naffaa, Director of Rehab Services. “We have had a lot of success stories, which I attribute to our team as they work hard to help the resident achieve their goals. I am very proud of my team and this recognition.”

Dr. Karim Khimani, Medical Director, works with staff physicians, registered and licensed practical nurses, certified nursing aides and licensed physical and occupational therapists.

Of the more than 15,000 US nursing homes reviewed, a total of 1,874 were recognized as high-performing in short stay. Each eligible facility is defined as High Performing, Average, or Below Average. The data used for evaluation comes from the federal Nursing Home Compare program, and includes metrics of nurse staffing, patient outcomes, facility complaints, and routine patient care. Nursing homes were also assessed on the appropriateness of the therapy provided to their residents.

Joanna Gorczyca, MSW, MPA, LNHA Administrator/Director of Senior Services, explains, “Our staff strives every day to do the best they can for our residents. It is wonderful to receive such recognition from US News & World Report.”

All employees work in concert to assist long-term and sub-acute patients in recovering from and managing various acute medical and orthopedic conditions. Special and individualized care is provided for all residents.
