Apr 30, 2019 Nico Hischier and Mirco Mueller of the New Jersey Devils Visit Children's Specialized Hospital to Present $20,000 Grant from Swiss Society

On behalf of the 2019 Swiss Society of New York Fellowship Award recipients, Nico Hischier and Mirco Mueller of the New Jersey Devils, a $20,000 donation has been made to Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation. The funds from the grant will go toward the hospital’s Benefit Fund.

Each year, Children’s Specialized Hospital treats hundreds of children who receive some type of financial assistance through the Benefit Fund. This program helps make up the financial difference between the rehabilitation a child needs, and what his or her family’s insurance will cover. If eligible, the Children’s Specialized Hospital Benefit Fund program can assist with high deductibles, coinsurances, and even copays.

“We’re so grateful to the Swiss Society and New Jersey Devils, Nico Hischier and Mirco Mueller, for this generous donation to the Children’s Specialized Hospital Benefit Fund,” said Philip Salerno, lll, Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation President and Chief Development Officer. “It is through generous philanthropic gifts like this that our foundation is able to help guarantee the best possible care for all of our patients.”

The Swiss Society of New York Fellowship award is a grant given in the name of the Fellowship prize honorees named at the annual Swiss Ball. This year the Swiss Society was pleased to honor Mueller and Hischier, both Swiss professional ice hockey players currently playing for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League.

“We were so honored to be chosen for the 2019 fellowship prize from the Swiss Society. It made it possible for us to support Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation and help New Jersey’s kids get great care,” said Mueller. Hischier added, “It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to help those in need.”
