Oct 17, 2018 Free Health Education Program on Anterior Hip Replacements Set for Nov. 15

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset will present a free community health education program called “Get Hip to Anterior Replacements” on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the hospital’s Steeplechase Cancer Center, 30 Rehill Ave., Somerville.

Dr. Stephen Kayairos, an orthopedic surgeon at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, will provide an overview of the conditions that affect the hip joints, causes of hip damage and when to consider a hip replacement. Dr. Kayairos will also discuss the anterior approach for total hip replacement, which is a tissue-sparing alternative to traditional hip replacement surgery that provides the potential for less pain, faster recovery and improved mobility because the muscle tissues are spared during the surgical procedure. Most patients leave the hospital after just one day.

A light lunch will be provided. To register, call 888-724-7123. For more information about Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset’s Joint Surgery Program, visit www.rwjbh.org/somerset.
