May 30, 2018 Walk N' Roll Raises Over $200,000 to Support Children With Special Healthcare Needs

Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation hosted its 12th annual Walk n’ Roll on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Johnson Park in Piscataway, New Jersey.

While the weather did not cooperate this year, the rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the hundreds of families who came out to the support the hospital.  Over 600 children, families, hospital staff, community members and pets showed their support and raised over $200,000 for Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation.

On-air radio personalities, Race Taylor and Melony Torres of 95.5 PLJ-FM, and Katie Neal of 94.7 NASH-FM, joined the festivities and got the crowd revved up for the 1 mile or 5k walk or roll around Johnson Park. Awards were presented to top corporate and individual fundraisers, and a special award for the best team spirit. Despite the rain, children and their families were able to enjoy fun games, win prizes and eat lots of delicious food from a variety of food trucks.

Walk n’ Roll chairwoman, Jennifer Weil (left), instrumental in the success of the event, lead the event committee for a second year. “I really enjoy being a part of the planning of Walk n’ Roll. It’s so inspirational to see the dedication all these families have to Children’s Specialized Hospital, it’s a testament to the incredibly important work being done at Children’s every day.

“I look forward to this event every year. I love seeing the kids and their families so happy and excited to participate in the Walk n’ Roll and help give back to our hospital,” said Phil Salerno, president and chief development officer of Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation. “We’re grateful for the generous support of Jennifer Weil and presenting sponsor PSE&G."

It was an inspirational day highlighting the dedication so many families feel to the organization that has given them so much.
