May 2, 2018 Unveiling of Costco Nurse's Station at PSE&G Children's Specialized Hospital

On Wednesday, April 25, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) unveiled the Costco Nurse’s Station at PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. The new station is in recognition of CMN Hospitals’ 30 year partnership with Costco Wholesale.

Every May, Costco Wholesale participates in a month-long Miracle Balloon Campaign at all warehouses in the United States and Canada. The annual Miracle Balloon Campaign is the primary source of the fundraising effort made by Costco and its partnership with CMN Hospitals. Members are invited to make a donation at the time of checkout and encouraged to write their names on the balloons, which are often displayed at the front of the warehouse. Regional golf tournaments, a corporate match, and other creative fundraising activities increase the fundraising total.

Nineteen Costco locations throughout Central and Northern New Jersey participated in “May is for Miracles” in 2017, raising over $775,000. The top three fundraising warehouses in New Jersey last year were Bridgewater, North Plainfield and Edison. The Costco Miracle Balloon Campaign for 2018 kicks off on May 1.

“We are so grateful for Costco Wholesale’s partnership,” said Nicole Hudson, Director of Fundraising and Operations at Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation, as she unveiled the new sign at the Costco Nurse’s Station. “Their longstanding support has helped to ensure that New Jersey’s children with special health care needs receive the best possible care at Children’s Specialized Hospital.”

Kathy Garriques, mother of CMN Hospitals 2015 champion, Taryn, was a guest speaker at the unveiling on Wednesday. “I cannot express how thankful we are to Costco and all the Costco employees who go the extra mile to raise funds and awareness for Children’s Specialized Hospital,” said Garriques. “It is because of state-of-the-art equipment like this that comes from incredible fundraising that allows the nurses to complete their tasks more efficiently which allows them more time to provide amazing, compassionate care.”

Paul Pulver, Vice President of Operations for the Northeast Region of Costco Wholesale, speaking at the unveiling, said, “We are proud to be partners with CMN Hospitals. The work they do on a national level is extraordinary. But today, we are here to recognize the incredible relationship that has formed with our New Jersey employees and Children’s Specialized Hospital. They have been amazing in their efforts to raise funds in support of the good work at Children’s Specialized Hospital and we look forward to the May 1st  Miracle Balloon Campaign kickoff!”
