SOMERVILLE, NJ, May 10, 2018 -- Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset recently honored Kimberly Delbrune-Mitter, BSN, RN-BC, of Keyport, with the hospital’s 2018 Magnet Nurse of the Year Award. The award was presented to Delbrune-Mitter during a special Nurses’ Day Awards Ceremony at the hospital.

Delbrune-Mitter, who is a staff nurse on the hospital’s Cardiac Pavilion, was recognized for her role as a preceptor in training and educating new nurses and for her efforts to train staff in safe patient handling practices.

The following awards were also presented:

  • Community Outreach Award – Peachie Miranda, BSN, RN, of Bridgewater, who works in Special Procedures in the Radiology Department
  • Friend of Nursing Award – Kathleen Roberts, of Boonton Township, who is director of Marketing/Public Relations
  • Nursing Technician/Technologist Award – Anthony Davis, of Sayreville, who works as a Clinical Care Technician (CCT) on the hospital’s 1-East patient care unit
  • Advanced Practice Provider Award – Ibironke Macauley, MSN, MBA, APN, FNP, of North Brunswick
  • Transformational Leadership Award – Siby Varughese, MA, BSN, RN, OCN, CCRP, of Monroe, who is the manager of Oncology Clinical Research
  • Structural Empowerment – Falls Friday Team
  • Exemplary Professional Practice – Ceres Reynera, BSN, RN, OCN, of Somerville, who works in the Same Day Surgery Department
  • New Knowledge, Innovation and Improvement Award – Lisa Redler, BSN, RN, ONC, of Kendall Park, who works on the Orthopedic Pavilion

In addition, Roger Yang, MD, president of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset’s medical/dental staff, presented scholarship awards to Shelby Marsh, RN of Somerville and Arlene Palanca, BSN, RN, of Raritan.
