Becker’s Hospital Review Names Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick

One Of America’s Top 100 Hospitals And Health Systems With Great Oncology Programs

(New Brunswick, NJ) – Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s Cancer Hospital has been named one of America’s top 100 hospitals and health systems with great oncology programs by Becker’s Hospital Review.

Hospitals and health systems selected for this list lead the way in oncology expertise, outcomes, research, and treatment options. Hospitals were selected based on rankings, ratings, designations and outstanding achievement awards for the specialty from a range of firms and clinical bodies, including U.S. News & World Report, CareChex, BlueCross BlueShield Association, National Cancer Institute and American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

RWJUH’s Cancer Hospital of New Jersey is the flagship hospital of Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. The Cancer Hospital of New Jersey is a 103-bed, 225-square-foot facility with all private rooms and sleeping accommodations for patients' family members. The American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer accredited The Cancer Hospital of New Jersey and CareChex ranked Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital No. 10 in the state for cancer care.

RWJ’s 103-bed Cancer Hospital offers patients and families the following:

For children with cancer, The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at RWJUH houses a pediatric hematology/oncology unit under the direction of pediatric physicians offering age-appropriate care in a family-focused environment.

The Breast Care Connection at RWJUH features specially trained and certified breast health navigators are available to assist patients with any issues they may encounter- from scheduling appointments to obtaining information from health insurance providers. The Breast Care Connection’s navigators help patients coordinate their care through a broad range of RWJUH health care professionals specializing in women’s imaging, breast surgery, plastic surgery, oncology, radiation oncology, psychosocial services and breast health navigation.

The hospital's Women's Imaging Center offers the latest in digital mammography technology, breast, and gynecological ultrasound. The Center performs stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound-guided core breast biopsy and ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy, as well as needle-localization for breast biopsy and lumpectomy.

The Radiation Oncology Department provides intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), brachytherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, precise, high-dose radiation treatment therapy, as well as CT simulation, a body scanning technology providing high-resolution images to map tumor location.
