NEWARK, NJ – (February 1, 2018) Spirit of Children, the philanthropic arm of Spirit Halloween, presented the Children's Hospital of New Jersey (CHoNJ) at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center with a $77,651 dollar grant to support the hospital’s Child Life Program which uses therapeutic and emotional healing to effect patient care while doctors and nurses focus on medical treatment.

This is the ninth donation from the foundation. These funds provide vital support to the Child Life program including funding for additional Child Life specialists, educational equipment, iPads and distraction toys for use during procedures as well as toys created specifically for physical and developmental limitations. Their donations have also helped the Child Life program expand their services into the pediatric emergency room at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, where specialists see more than 300 patients a month.

“The Spirit of Children program has shown an unwavering commitment to our hospital and to our mission of always providing high quality, safe and compassionate care to our patients,” said Darrell K. Terry, Sr., MHA, MPH, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, “We are proud of what we have been able to accomplish together.”

To date, the Spirit of Children program has raised more than 460,000 dollars for CHoNJ. Donations from Spirit Halloween and Spirit of Children have made a huge difference for CHoNJ patients by greatly helping families navigate through challenging medical situations and hospital stays.
