Jun 17, 2016 Golf Classic Raises Record $315K to Support Level I Trauma Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital

JACKSON, N.J. – A record $315,000 was raised for the Level I Trauma Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH), which serves the six counties of Central New Jersey, at the RWJ University Hospital Foundation’s 26th Annual Invitational Golf Classic held this week at the Metedeconk National Golf Club.

RWJUH is home to a skilled shock/trauma team that includes physicians, neurosurgeons, pediatric surgeons and specially trained nurses available 24 hours a day at its state-designated Level I Trauma Center. Along with adult services, the hospital’s pediatric trauma program is verified as New Jersey’s first and only Pediatric Trauma Center. In addition, as part of its mission, RWJUH provides injury prevention education for all ages.

“We are very thankful and fortunate to have loyal supporters who believe in our vision of providing the highest quality care to all who seek our services,” said Brian D. Agnew, Ph.D., Senior Vice President for Development at RWJUH and Executive Director of the RWJ University Hospital Foundation.

The annual golf outing has raised more than $3 million during its 26-year history to support the hospital. Under the leadership of co-chairs Bernard Rineberg, M.D., a longtime orthopedic surgeon and member emeritus of the RWJUH Board of Directors, and Glenn Mekles, vice president of Conner Strong & Buckelew, the Golf Classic committee continues to achieve record proceeds. This year’s honorary co-chairs were Richard “Dick” Samenfeld, Vice President of Construction Management, Wm. Blanchard Co., and Keith W. Stanisce, president and chief executive officer of Barr & Barr.

The Golf Classic was made possible through the generous support of our participants and Overall Sponsor Conner Strong & Buckelew; Platinum Sponsors Barr & Barr, Revenue Guard and TD Bank; and Supporting Sponsors Haddad Brands, QualCare and Wm. Blanchard Co.

The RWJ University Hospital Foundation encourages everyone to save the date for RWJUH’s second golf outing – The Children’s Health 16th Annual Golf Outing – to be held on August 4, 2014 at The Ridge at Back Brook in Ringoes, N.J. The outing benefits The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at RWJUH.
