Jun 17, 2016 Golf Classic Raises $330,000 to Support Telemedicine Services at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital

ACKSON, N.J. – The Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Foundation raised $330,000 to support the expansion of telemedicine services at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJ) at its 28th Annual Invitational Golf Classic, held this week at the Metedeconk National Golf Club.

Telemedicine is the platform on which we can provide clinical health care at a distance. It gives patients access to highly qualified specialists for diagnosis and treatment. It has the potential to reduce health care costs by connecting individuals to key support services at home to prevent costly and often avoidable hospital readmissions. Telemedicine services are a central part of the hospital’s effort to enhance service and increase access to specialty capabilities to more patients directly in their communities.

“The Annual Golf Classic continues to deliver critical funds that we need to expand programs, pursue innovation and enhance the exceptional health care services our academic medical center provides to our state and region,” says Michael Antoniades, President and Chief Executive Officer of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. “Telemedicine is central part of our effort to deliver the right care in the right setting to patients. Thanks to the generous support of everyone who participated in this year’s Classic, our Telemedicine program is giving more patients than ever before access to the expert, life-saving care available through our Comprehensive Stroke Center at RWJ New Brunswick.”

Under the leadership of Chair Glenn Mekles, senior vice president of Conner Strong & Buckelew, the Golf Classic committee continues to raise critical funds which allow RWJ to expand services and programs. This year’s Honorary Classic Chair was Steve Loures, co-founder and chief operating officer of Revenue Guard, a long-time supporter of the Classic and RWJ.
The Golf Classic was made possible through the generous support of all of our participants and Overall Sponsors Conner Strong & Buckelew and Revenue Guard and Platinum Sponsor Dancker, Sellew & Douglas.

The RWJ University Hospital Foundation encourages everyone to save the date for our second outing – The Children’s Health 18th Annual Golf Outing, to be held on August 1, 2016 at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, N.J. The outing benefits The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital (BMSCH) at RWJUH.
