Mar 31, 2015 Awakening - A Poem

From time to time we like to share the thoughtful words and feelings that come from participants in the Eating Disorder Program. Below is a wonderful poem by Nicole Motta.

On evening strolls around the block
I pause to ponder simpler years.
The scent of flowers made me stop;
Their sheer aroma brings on tears-
Of joy, no doubt, of days gone by
With our care-free, unclouded heads,
Before things up and went away,
When there was no real fear to dread.
Perfume bursts from blossoming blooms
While I wander around the lawn.
My innocence has fled too soon.
Like a doe sprinting from her fawn.
But that girl is still within me -
Up to only me to find her.
By these scents, I'm forced to see
That in due time, my soul will prosper.
With bright, big eyes and bouncing hair,
Holding flowers, a hopeful token,
That girl lies patient, sleeping there
And waits for me to be awoken.
