Jan 17, 2015 Golfing for Children's Health

The RWJ University Hospital Foundation is pleased to report that the 17th Annual Children’s Health Golf Outing netted $120,080! It was a beautiful day on the course, and the evening’s program was especially moving. Jonathan Walker, a young cancer survivor, shared his personal story of what started out as back pain. After one misdiagnosis after another, Jonathan finally found answers at The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital (BMSCH) at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where doctors confirmed he had leukemia. Jonathan underwent chemotherapy treatment and was in and out of the hospital several times due to infections and seizures. Thankfully, he’s now doing very well and will be done with chemotherapy in November. Jonathan’s story touched all of us, and his gratitude towards BMSCH doctors was heartfelt and genuine. He is just one of the many reasons the funds raised at this golf outing are so important to our Children’s Hospital. The Foundation thanks the hundreds of supporters who made donations as well as a special thank you to Kevin McNamara, Chair of this year’s outing, as well as Bob Ciatto, Honorary Chair. We are already looking forward to exceeding next year’s goal!
