Barnabas Health celebrates their civic leaders.

Barnabas Health celebrates their civic leaders.

Through September, Barnabas Health will feature civic leaders whose hard work and dedication has made a difference in the communities in which they live and serve. Barnabas Health celebrates their civic leaders every Sunday on WFAN 660 AM during the New York Yankees game.

Barnabas Health salutes Dr. Janice Johnson Dias, President of GrassROOTS Community Foundation, for advocating for women and girls’ health in Newark and around the nation.

Janice spearheads the Foundation’s efforts to help girls grow up to be healthy women and for women and girls to make health a priority. Under Janice’s leadership, GrassROOTS helps eliminate behavioral, social and environmental health challenges by providing resources and opportunities for women and girls. Janice’s tireless work supports the Foundation’s adage, “if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything.”

A respected authority on sociological issues, Janice’s research on welfare-to-work organizations has appeared in the top-ranking policy journal and she has also been published in well-respected sociological and psychological journals.

Janice is recognized as a national leader in working with community based organizations. She earned a special Congressional honor for her work in Long Island on black girls’ mental, sexual and physical health issues.

Barnabas Health thanks Dr. Janice Johnson Dias for supporting women and girls in our community.
