Long Branch, NJ, March 27, 2024 – A registered nurse with Monmouth Medical Center’s (MMC) Labor & Delivery unit who was praised as exceptional by a maternity patient, has been honored with the quarterly DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses®.

Brianna Napoli, BSN, RN, a resident of Interlaken who joined the MMC Labor & Delivery nursing team five years ago, was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient, who shared:

Brianna was an exceptional nurse during my labor experience. She was extremely caring and did everything she could to make me feel comfortable and calm. My husband and I both felt that Brianna advocated for me if I ever anxious or uncomfortable during the entire experience. Brianna truly made our labor experience wonderful – thank you Brianna.

DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Foundation was formed by the family of Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), an auto-immune disease. His widow, Tena, (a DAISY Co-founder) created the acronym, and the Foundation and established the DAISY Recognition Program to honor the super-human work nurses do every day at the bedside.
